Having been in the ministry for over fifty years, I have learned a lot of lessons and gained some valuable experience. A third reason for planting a new church is for mentoring young men for the ministry. (Psalm 95:1) We will blend the two, making this church traditional, but relevant. Both young and old find joy in worshipping God through hymns and contemporary songs. There are also some wonderful contemporary songs and choruses that are soul-stirring and bring us to the heart of God in praise and worship. The great hymns of the church help us grow in our faith and teach us rich theology that helps us understand who God is and how He works in our lives. A second reason for starting a new church is because I believe there are people searching for a traditional church in our community a church where the great majestic hymns of the faith have a prominent place. Isn’t that reason enough to plant a new church! By contrast, as high as 90 percent of new members in established churches are transfers from another congregation. The bottom line: most church plants baptize more new believers and create more new disciples than already existing churches do. A Lifeway Research study found that 42 percent of church plant attendees previously weren’t part of a church. Church plants are significantly more likely to draw non-Christians than established churches. New churches are the most effective means to reach spiritually disconnected people. I believe the Lord has given me good health and vitality for such a time as this. Hundreds are moving into our community each month. The Lord is bringing the world to our doorstep. The latest call from the Lord is to plant a new church in Celina, Texas. What a joy it has been to serve the Lord as an evangelist, missionary and pastor for more than fifty years.
That passion to reach the lost and disciple the saved is just as strong today as it was the day that I received it. Since the day the Lord called me to ministry at the age of eleven, the passion of my heart has been to reach people for Jesus Christ.
